Meta is developing its own artificial intelligence (AI)-based search engine to reduce reliance on search engines from Google and Microsoft. With this new AI search engine, users of WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook will be able to access the latest information more easily through the “Meta AI” chatbot.
Currently, Meta AI chatbot provides users with information on recent news, stock market trends, and sports updates through Google and Bing search engines. However, once Meta’s own AI search engine goes live, it will be able to deliver information without needing support from Google and Bing, reducing Meta’s dependency on these tech giants.
Leading the AI race, companies like OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft are working to strengthen their presence in the sector. Google is in the process of integrating its new AI model, Gemini, into its search engine, while OpenAI has incorporated its AI technologies into Microsoft’s Bing, enabling users to quickly find answers to a wide variety of questions. Recently, Meta also signed an agreement with news agency Reuters to provide accurate information and news to users, allowing the Meta AI chatbot to display Reuters content in response to user queries.
The news of Meta’s new AI search engine has generated considerable discussion in the tech world. However, questions are arising about the types of information used to train Meta’s AI model. Meta has not disclosed any details about the AI model or data collection process it is using for this new search engine.
