Thousands of people in Lebanon are fleeing their homes

Israeli forces have stepped up attacks across Lebanon. At least 492 people were killed in Lebanon in Monday’s massive attack alone. Many were injured.

Thousands of people from towns and villages in southern Lebanon were fleeing their homes overnight trying to reach the country’s capital, Beirut, the BBC reported live on Tuesday.

The BBC met some families who were carrying only a few bags with them. On the way, many stopped on the main road of Beirut and took temporary shelter.

Israel’s military says it has struck 1,300 targets to destroy infrastructure built by Hezbollah since the 2006 war.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah fired 200 rockets at northern Israel, the military said. Two were injured.

Meanwhile, world powers have called for restraint as both sides move towards an all-out war.

Lebanon’s health ministry says 35 children and 58 women are among the dead. And 1 thousand 645 people were injured. No information was available on the number of casualties, whether civilians or combatants.
